Virtual Meters
At the bottom of the screen, below the list of standard meters, there is a list of virtual meters (VM). Virtual meters allow you to combine standard meters (create their totals, differences) and display them as one virtual meter.
Virtual meters allow, for example, the calculation of unmeasured sub-units in buildings from master and slave meters.
The cost of energy measured using virtual meters is the sum of the costs of the meters underlying their data.
Example: let's say we have a water meter that measures the water consumption of an entire building. Each tenant in the building has their own water meter. There is also a service closet in the building that is without a water meter. In order to measure the consumption of the service chamber, we can simply create a virtual water meter. At the building level (in the building tree, select the desired building) and then click on Add Virtual Meter. Name it "Service Chamber", then in the Consumption Calculation Sources table I see all the standard meters in the building. The calculation of the consumption of the virtual meter can be illustrated by the following calculation:
"Service chamber consumption" = "Total consumption" - "Tenant 1 consumption" - "Tenant 2 consumption"
To get the correct readings, I mark the main water meter with a "+" and the other sub-meters with a "-" as in the picture below. You change the "+" and "-" symbols by tapping on the symbol.
Allow to Add VM Sources Outside of the Subtree
Sources can now be added from anywhere — not just from the same object or its subtree, but also from other objects. This functionality allows users to simplify the management of meters across different buildings or complexes.
- Adding Sources Outside the Subtree
It is possible to add sources from anywhere in the system, not just from the subtree. Adding sources works as follows:- Basic list of sources: Users have the default option to select sources from the same subtree (building or area).
- Adding sources outside the subtree: Using the "+" button, users can add any other source (physical or virtual meter) from other buildings or entities to which they have access.
-
User Permissions
- A user can only add meters they have permission to access.
- If the user does not have access to all sources associated with the virtual meter, they will not be able to edit or rename the virtual meter. The system will disable this option and display a warning.
-
Source Management
- Existing sources: The list of existing sources includes all previously linked sources, even if they are not part of the current subtree. This allows users to see all connected meters.
- Source tables: Users can categorize sources into two categories:
- Physical sources: A table displaying meters based on physical sources.
- Virtual sources: A table displaying virtual meters.
-
Moving Meters Between Entities
A virtual meter can now be moved between different buildings or entities:- Create a new virtual meter in one building and assign it local subtree sources.
- The meter can be moved to another building, and sources from this new location can be added.
- After the move, all sources remain connected, and changes are automatically updated.
